Ever heard of the 80/20 principle?
You most probably have.
Its basically the secret to my achieving more with less.
It has been the cornerstone of my result-based life-style.
Let me share my story with you:
When I hit the big 40 a few years back, I sat down and took stock of my life as I often do.
It was a sobering experience.
I had 2 two year old kids who had not even began school.
Add 20 years (or more) of schooling to that and I was still going to be paying fees at 60 plus.
My business was showing signs of waning; and I was bored stiff with it anyways.
I didn’t see it in the picture in 20 years the way it was bending to the Nigerian economic principles, and even if it did; I couldn’t picture it paying good quality education for 3 kids.
I recall few weeks after my birthday holding my husband tight and wailing out loud.
Even, he didn’t quite understand my pain.
I had grief written all over me.
My husband is 5 years older than I am.
The daily waking up early and getting home late was beginning to tire him.
He had dropped hints more than once he NEEDED to get out of the 9-5.
If we continued like this, our early retirement plans was definitely off the table.
All those that understand me know I can tolerate just about anything.
And I mean ANYTHING….until I can’t.
I woke up one morning and decided enough was enough.
From my calculation I was just about 60% of the way to the mysterious 70 year expected life span.
I hadn’t failed; but I was unhappy with my score.
I’m an A student.
I didn’t plan to spend the whole 40% trying to achieve success, I needed time to enjoy it.
So, I was left with 20% of my entire life; to leave a legacy for my children.
That 20% had to do the work for the entire 100%….and more.
And so help me God, I’m going to do it!
When you have your life down to pen and paper and have a transformation self meeting; you find out why creating habits that will make you massively productive is non- negotiable.
EVERY SECOND COUNTS!
I’ll share some tips that have helped me tremendously to reach where I am and recreate my future:
1. Focus on your strengths and eliminate anything else that is holding you back
2. Change bad habits to habits that will make you move towards wealth
3. Create an excellent balance between work and family life; without feeling guilty about it
4. Look for and find a short cut i any situation
5. Calm down, work less and identify your few most valuable goals
6. Focus on things you excel at and enjoy; and cut out the rest.
I didn’t get here by some spell.
I worked my behind out in the last 2 years:
I attended training sessions until my eyes went dizzy and my purse went dry
I pay to a coach that reminds me of a wicked step mother
I pay to a mentor that holds me accountable for my days
I started projects while being so scared of failing, I would cry from fear
I wake up in the morning and by the mercy of God I MOVE!
Don’t stop moving.
Even when it seems you’ve lost your sense of direction: MOVE!
Save time: get a coach
Save money: get a mentor.
Recreate your future.
